With LGBTQ stories in filmand on TV more popular than ever before, it’s important to celebrate out-and-proud acting talents — particularly those without the non-binary awards categories they deserve.
In , the declare of Hollywood is unsure to say the least. But even as existential questions about the business of making entertainment persist, audiences and artists are grappling with equally critical questions of representation on screen. Among those questions: should queer roles be played exclusively by homosexual actors?
Its an evolving conversation, getting at the very core of what makes the art of acting, well, acting. Last year, the industrys resident great guy Tom Hanks gave an answer in regards to his Oscar-recognized role in s Philadelphia.

- A growing number of celebrities have opened up about being attracted to more than one gender.
- Some identify as bisexual (Halsey, Cardi B, Kit Connor) or pansexual (Janelle Monáe, Miley Cyrus).
- Other stars favor to identify as homosexual, while still more forgo labels for a more fluid approach.

Eilish nonchalantly discussed her sexuality in a cover story for Variety, which was published in November
Eilish described herself as "physically attracted" to women, adding, "I'm attracted to them for real."
The Grammy-winning singer did not apply a specific label to identify her sexuality. Shortly after, Eilish attended the Variety Hitmakers event, where she was interviewed on the red carpet.
After portraying women as "pretty," the interviewer asked if Eilish intended to "come out" with her cover story.

For many, June represents the month of pride; a time to celebrate, instruct and communicate all that is queer, gay and fabulous. Although today existence gay isnt much of a deal, back in the 50s it was a dangerous label to have. Throughout history, thousands have lost their lives because they were labeled as gay or queer and many lived out their true sexual preferences in secrecy. As its almost the end of Pride month, I wanted to have a stare at some celebrities from the golden age of Hollywood who were male lover, or at least thats what the rumours said. Its difficult to understand if all these celebrities, and of course many more, were truly homosexual, but I wanted to share a few stories just so see how far weve come. Delighted pride everyone.

In an August interview with Flaunt Magazine, the Riverdale star says she always knew about her bisexuality, but was afraid of becoming a media spectacle for only being in relationships with the opposite sex.
"I felt that since I’ve exclusively been in heteronormative relationships, it would be too easy for any outsider, especially the media, to vilify me and accuse me of faking it to find attention," she told the publication.
