It’s official! Ezra Sosa is the newest professional dancer joining the Dancing with the Stars cast!
While he’s been a part of the DWTS universe as a troop dancer since 2021, Sosa recently received the news that he’d be joining the team of pro dancers entire time. This means Sosa will be assigned a celebrity partner who he’ll help train to contact their full potential in the ballroom.
To talk about this exciting announcement and so much more, Sosa joined GLAAD’s Anthony Allen Ramos.
“It hasn’t hit me yet,” Sosa says about the news. “When I got the call, I honestly was in a express of shock.” He says that he has been waiting so long to achieve this goal, so it still feels surreal.

New York, New York – September 3, 2024 – GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, queer, bisexual, transgender, and homosexual (LGBTQ) media advocacy group, today announced exclusively that out Latin dancer Ezra Sosa will be joining Dancing With the Stars (DWTS) Season 33 as a pro. He will be the first Latin dance pro to be featured on DWTS in over a decade. Sosa joined DWTS in 2021 and has been a part of the troupe until now, when he will be making his debut as an official pro and paired with a celebrity partner who is still to be announced.
In the exclusive interview with GLAAD, Sosa said, “It hasn’t hit me yet! When I got the call, I honestly was in a declare of shock from the news…but I think the moment I do gather my [celebrity] partner and the moment I step in the ballroom, that’s when I’ll be prefer, “this is actually happening right now!”

Sosa is from Utah, however, his parents immigrated to the U.S. from Argentina and Mexico. In a 2019 interview with The Salt Lake Tribune, he shared:
“Yes, I came from two immigrant parents. But we just really wish America to see the blessing that dance was for us. And a lot of the hour, all we had was dance and each other. Dance is what kept my family going.”
In 2021, Sosa was cast as a member of the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ troupe dancers for season 30.
“I have trained my whole life for this moment, truly a dream show up true. I’m so grateful and blessed to acquire the opportunity to gyrate for all of you! It is the biggest honor of my animation. Thank you,” he wrote via an Instagram announce, sharing the good news.
