    Fabulous Fridays

Fridays are fabulous in the LGBTQ Center!

We construct every Friday fabulous by inviting the campus people to join us in social and self-care activities, such as crafts and board games. Participants spot community, learn about the LGBTQIA+ community, and de-stress before the weekend. Students, staff, faculty, and off-campus community members are welcome to attend.

    Why Make Fridays Fabulous?

    Attendance

The LGBTQ Center records the highest number of student visits on Fridays. Many students benefit from accessing community support and resources before campus offices close for the weekend.

    Support Resources

The Fabulous Fridays program is informed by the Positive Youth Development (PYD) approach, which harnesses individual and collective assets to enhance resiliency and mitigate the impact of barriers and chance factors. Students are often ignorant of how to access campus and community resources, but attending a amusing Fabulous Friday event provides them with an opportunity to socialize and request informed staff members for assistance.

During previous Fabulous Friday events, LGBTQ Center staff members and volunteers own assisted students in locat friday gay

    Clear Eyes, Full Hearts

In the days after star steep school quarterback Jason Avenue is paralyzed during a football game, his leading friend and teammate Tim Riggins sulks in a dark room, projecting footage of Jason’s accident on repeat. But despite pleas from Jason’s family, Tim can’t bring himself to visit his friend in the hospital. Only when the entire team stops by days later does Tim show up. The last of the players to enter Jason’s room, Tim pauses in the doorframe, wincing when he sees his injured buddy in bed. “I fail you, Street,” Tim says between gasps and tears. Like a scorned girlfriend, Jason asks, “Where the hell you been?” Tim tosses a glance to the floor, a wisp of hair in his face, then looks up and smiles playfully: “You know. Around.”

Cut to Jason and Tim holding hands. Jason is on the verge of tears; Tim won’t look him in the eye. “Go,” Jason says, his voice gentle and forgiving. After all, Tim has a game to play. He cries all the way out the door. Once Jason is alone, he cries too.

Judging from the premise of Friday Night Lights,it might seem as if the 2006 television drama—which is loosely based on the film and manual of the same name—would be the straightest sho
