Tuk Tuk Bar

Tuk Tuk is a tiny cocktail exclude nestled on the land floor of the Casati boutique hotel. Old photos and heavy crimson drapes evoke the hedonistic customs of s-Shanghai inside this dark drinking den. Entity on a quiet lane within Budapest's party district, Tuk Tuk is a perfect hideaway from the commotion a few blocks away. The bartenders don't shy away from using Hungary's potent national fruit brandy, as in the “Pálinka sour,” where the almond-flavored amaretto liqueur balances out the heft of the spirit. They will also prepare classic cocktails upon request. Though not formally gay, Tuk Tuk, similar to the hotel upstairs, is gay-friendly.

To persist unbiased, I visit all places incognito and give for my own meals and drinks. I rely in large part on readers to support my work. I'm grateful if you make a one-time payment (PayPal, Venmo, Revolut) or subscribe to my weekly newsletter in which I recommend Budapest and Vienna events such as exhibitions and anything I'm currently excited about.

Somewhat disturbed by this bar

So we went there for an evening drink before heading out. At first, it seemed nice, the people were friendly, the atmosphere was good and the drink selection was great. Unfortunately when the DJ came in and took over the TV it all got a little weird. A dude and older lady took over the screens and music playback and proceeded to put on a youtube video of underage young boys half-naked, executing gymnastics. At first, we thought this was a mistake or a terrible choice but when the video ended they proceeded to put on another video of the equal age group of boys performing gymnastics. We all found this sexualising of children disturbing and decided to leave the block. I hope this is a one-off but from our experience, I would avoid this bar.
