Kit Connor ‘Wasn’t Angry’ With ‘Heartstopper’ Fans When Coming Out as Bi, ‘Just Slightly Disappointed’: ‘I Would’ve Preferred to Do It Another Way’
Kit Connorcame out as bisexual in an October 2022 Twitter publish in which the “Heartstopper” breakout wrote, “Back for a minute. I’m bi. Congrats for forcing an 18 year old to out himself. I reflect some of you missed the point of the show. Bye.”
Prior to the social media announce, Connor had been facing mounting accusations of queerbaiting due to his role as Nick in the popular Netflix coming-of-age series. Connor stars on “Heartstopper” as a high educational facility jock coming to terms with his own bisexuality. The public perception of Connor was that he was a straight player taking on a lgbtq+ role (and participating in queer events like self-acceptance marches in order to promote the show), so Connor’s own coming out as bisexual was in part to course-correct that false narrative among “Heartstopper” fans.
In a new interview with British Vogue, Connor clarified his coming out by saying, “I think ‘forced’ is

He has previously spoken about social media users "pressuring us to come out when maybe we're not ready".
The star, who has also appeared in Elton John biopic Rocketman and the TV adaptation of His Dark Materials, tweeted in May: "Twitter is so funny man. Apparently some people on here perceive my sexuality better than I do..."
He then told the Reign with Josh Smith podcast there was "a danger" to speculating on social media.
He said: "In the cast, we're all 18 and we have a few people in their early 20s, and even with those older members of the cast, we're all so young, and to open speculating about our sexualities and maybe pressuring us to come out when maybe we're not ready...

Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Whitney Leavitt Addresses Rumor About Husband Conner’s Sexuality
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Whitney Leavitt reacted to fan speculation surrounding husband Conner Leavitt’s sexuality.
“What is the craziest rumor that you’ve heard about you or your relationship online?” host Kaitlyn Bristowe asked during the Thursday, October 3, episode of the “Off the Vine” podcast, to which Whitney, 31, replied, “Oh my Gosh, that my husband’s gay.”
Whitney quipped, “Do I need to place out a sex tape or something? Trust me, we’re good. Like, everything is fine.” She added that releasing a sex tape worked well for Kim Kardashian. “Look at her life, she’s a billionaire,” Whitney said.
After Bristowe, 39, asked why fans may question Conner’s sexuality, Whitney explained she thinks it stemmed from a conversation on the Hulu show about his effort with a porn addiction. In the Hulu series, it was also revealed that he launched a secret Tinder account to solicit NSFW images.
