About Gran Canaria, Maspalomas & Playa del Inglés

Gran Canaria is by area the third largest and by population even the second largest of the Canary Islands. It is geographically closer to Africa than to the Spanish mainland. The climate of Gran Canaria is strongly influenced by the trade winds, whereby the north of the island is often cloudy, rainy and much cooler than the south, which is caressed by desiccate winds from the Sahara and where it therefore only rains on an average of 6 days per year and an ›eternal spring‹ dominates with temperatures of 18 to 27°C. As varied as the climate is the landscape of Gran Canaria. One can find in a confined space – like on a

Gran Canaria
The volcanic Island of Gran Canaria, situated off the coast of Africa, is a male lover man's dream - it's got sun, sea and sex in abundance and what's more it's a year round fantasy island. Gran Canaria is the number one gay commute destination in Europe.
Located just 4 hours from most Northern Europe's airports it's an easy destination to obtain that flawless tan. If you desire to get a bit cultural head into the mountains where the scenery changes from volcanic dryness to pine forests and evergreen

Tenerife
Affectionately famous as the 'island of eternal spring', Tenerife is home to striking volcanic landscapes and open leafy countryside. Situated just off the West African coast, enjoy golden and charcoal grey beaches, picturesque mountain villages, pretty coastal towns and year-round subtropical climates.
There's no doubt that the neighbouring island of Gran Canaria offers the largest gay scene in the Canary Islands, but Tenerife still has plenty to offer and the locals are a approachable

Situated just 30 minutes south of Barcelona on Spain's Costa Dorada, the former fishing village of Sitges is one of the holiday hotspots for the discerning gay travelle

Gay Gran Canaria

Having study a local article today about a post deleted off Tripadvisor for organism homophobic, I thought I'd try and clear things up a little for anyone who has either a) heard Gran Canaria and particularly Playa del Ingles is full of gays, outnumbering hetero couples 2 to 1 or b) have no plan that anywhere on the island caters for the gay market.

The young couple in question decided to stay in the Neptuno Hotel located next to the Yumbo center in Playa del Ingles. This is an "adults-only" hotel with around 25% same-sex attracted clientel unless it's changed a lot since I was there earlier this year. From personal trial, I (gay) would shun family-friendly hotels so that I could feel pleasant with my partner and not have to "respect the fact there's kids around" (after all, they don't respect the reality that I'm around or they would be silent and behave).

Generally the same-sex attracted market is very good catered for in Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles with a good decision of gay-only accommodation. We're also a bit choosy and like good hotels; we can afford them as most of us don't have families to support so we splash out more on ourselves, especially the more mature c

The Canary Islands are a welcoming place for lgbtq+ and lesbian visitors and have been a accepted destination for many years. The weather is fine throughout the year, and blue skies and sunshine mean that you can enjoy sunbathing by the pool, a drink on your balcony, meet other gay and lesbian visitors on the beach or in bars during the evening, but all without rain or cold weather!

Gay visitors come to the islands throughout the year as the weather and temperatures seldom transform, and are welcomed in all bars and hotels. Christmas and New Year are very popular times to visit, but Playa del Ingles in Gran Canaria holds the second largest Gay Pride in Spain and one of the most popular in Europe in May each year.

The main centre for gay tourists is Gran Canaria, but gay bars may be found on most of the larger islands. Carnival takes place on all the islands and is the most important fiesta for Canarian residents, and, although it is not gay, most straight men dress up as women and women dress as men - all very confusing! So a fabulous time for a party and sights that you will never forget - bring a costume!
